Shut-in.

The other day I was walking to the train and smiling at strangers. This isn’t very uncommon because I naturally enjoy the company of people I have never met and am almost always delightful in the morning.

This sunshine and rainbows, chipper attitude comes at a price though.

I do not leave the house for an entire day at least one day out of the week. Sometimes two. If it has been an especially tiresome week, month, whatever I’ll extend my shut-in activities until as long as necessary.

I just don’t leave the house. At all. For nothing. It took me awhile to realize that I needed this down time. Before I would just push myself to go and go and go until I’d be falling asleep standing up at a Christmas party. True story. It happened this Christmas actually. So you can see, the idea of resting is still new.

But I enjoy it. Everyone needs time to let their soul rest and unwind from the noise of life. How do you unwind?
