The Society of Professional Journalists is a great organization to be a part of if you are student, teacher, professional or citizen journalist.
I became a member prior to starting classes at UCF and attended a few conferences. All members of the organization, from the national to the local level, are a pleasure to be around.
Register for the Spring 2010 conference in Orlando by this Sunday! If you are looking to network with people looking to hire journalists you should definitely attend this event.
Plus, I’ll be there and would love to see you! Register here.
For journalists, bloggers and writers in the Washington and Santa Clara area - SPJ’s Narrative Writing Workshop.
I attended this workshop when it was in Gainesville, Florida and have recommended it to friends ever since. They teach you how to write about the most mundane topics in a way that keeps readers hooked. Also, it is not very expensive to attend.
Heading to UCF for the second day of our SPJ Spring conference.
The paper I work for, the Central Florida Future, won many awards at the Society of Professional Journalists award ceremony including best non-daily college newspaper in the southeast and best Web site non-daily college newspaper in the southeast.
I’m going to Indianapolis for the 2010 Ted Scripps Leadership Institute, which is sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalists in early June.
I have never been to this city and am really excited about meeting other journalists. The entire event is suppose to teach me how to lead our local chapter in the upcoming year.
I love nerdy affairs.
I am speaking at UCF next month.
Come to the SPJ event and hear how we covered the Casey Anthony trial on social media sites. More details can be found here.
