Spring Break starts (for me) this Thursday! John got into grad school in Miami and they invited him for a meet-and-greet so we are taking a mini-vacay Thursday - Saturday.

With super pale skin and 6 books in my current non-academic reading stack, a few days at the pool / beach are needed.

I have another mini-vacay coming up after this one, too!

For me this month means living in four distinct places: Chicago, Hawaii, Miami and finally home - otherwise known as Orlando.

What are your plans for this month?

One of John’s favorite meals to make is wild sockeye salmon with steamed potatoes and blue cheese salad. He uses almost two sticks of butter between the salmon and the potatoes. Why go out to eat when your boyfriend cooks like this? I’m in Miami until Monday so I expect I’ll be having more meals like this one.

What are you doing this weekend?

How budget cutbacks could affect Florida

orlandosentinel:

With hopes dimming that a congressional “super committee” can devise a plan to fix the federal deficit, Florida officials already are bracing for $1.2 trillion in budget cuts that automatically would go into effect if policymakers can’t reach an agreement by year’s end.

The water in Miami was beautiful this weekend. It was so clear you could see fish swimming around you.

I’m heading to Miami around 3:30 p.m. today. My darling friend Whitney is getting married tomorrow! They are getting married in West Palm Beach, but I am staying in Miami with John for the weekend. We will travel to WPB a few times, but thought staying in a hotel would be silly when his apartment is not that far away. Whit and Kyle live in Los Angeles. Whit is an artist and designer and Kyle is a writer.
