My plans to spend a few months in this wonderful city this summer are going well. As soon as I have a concrete date of departure from Orlando I will update everyone on what I’ll be doing there. The important thing is to keep your fingers crossed for me =)

I’m going to Indianapolis for the 2010 Ted Scripps Leadership Institute, which is sponsored by the Society of Professional Journalists in early June.
I have never been to this city and am really excited about meeting other journalists. The entire event is suppose to teach me how to lead our local chapter in the upcoming year.

The first week of August hangs at the very top of summer, the top of the live-long year, like the highest seat of a Ferris wheel when it pauses in its turning. The weeks that come before are only a climb from balmy spring, and those that follow a drop to the chill of autumn, but the first week of August is motionless, and hot. It is curiously silent, too, with blank white dawns and glaring noons, and sunsets smeared with too much color.
Our view from the condo is amazing. I can’t believe how close we are to the water. Once John gets up, we will have to start exploring.
