UCF, the University of Central Florida, the school I attend is pushing a bill that would make it mandatory for all state schools to deny education to new students who did not have health care.

Since I am the opinions editor for the newspaper that focuses on the UCF community I wrote a stance on this important topic. This stance and my other one from Sunday can be found here.

My stance has received 0 comments thus far while our column on roller-coasters is apparently very popular.

Change tailgating to tempt fans

My stance on UCF’s change on tailgating hours. The university has been changing its hours every season for two years and it has been driving students, alumni and the Orlando community crazy.

The Genocide Awareness Project came to UCF’s campus with their giant photos. I didn’t post them here because they are very gruesome. Above is my stance on the project and the photos. Read the whole thing here.

The fight for marriage equality for gay couples is an important topic. I wrote a stance on the UnMarriage event that took place on Valentine’s Day in Central Park in an attempt to bring some awareness to UCF’s community.

If you didn’t know the Supreme Court heard arguments on a handgun case this Tuesday. In addition to having many experts call in and give their opinions, NPR invited listeners to call in, too.

One caller was a college student who was very upset because he is not permitted to carry his gun on college campuses. The stance that I wrote, pictured above, is my take on the situation.

The Society of Professional Journalists is a great organization to be a part of if you are student, teacher, professional or citizen journalist.
I became a member prior to starting classes at UCF and attended a few conferences. All members of the organization, from the national to the local level, are a pleasure to be around.
Register for the Spring 2010 conference in Orlando by this Sunday! If you are looking to network with people looking to hire journalists you should definitely attend this event.
Plus, I’ll be there and would love to see you! Register here.
